DUCT Education participated in the Happy Earth Hall, a project of the Happy Earth Forum during the Witness Garden show from 23rd to the 25th of September. With regards to putting up our stand, we got help from two passionate volunteers who are part of our Eco-club members.

CTM Pietermaritzburg and Msunduzi Parks and Recreation also played a huge role in putting up our stand, hence CTM provided us with one of their full set toilet setup and MPR Parks provided us with trees and plants to display on our stand.

Our display introduced several toilet systems, from the old fashioned “pottie” or “sluice bucket” to a “long drop” and a modern “flush loo” so called rest rooms.

The message that we passed through was that toilet fashions may change over time but one thing stays the same: Use toilet tissue ONLY!

We drew the connection between poor sanitation practice and unhealthy rivers by emphasising what items should never be flushed down the toilet.

This event was a huge success for our team; hence we received Gold Certificate to show the excellent work we put together.
